FOOD SERVICE DIRECTOR / NUTRITION SERVICES DIRECTOR

The Marion Center Area School District is seeking a highly motivated and organized professional to serve as its Food Service Director/Nutrition Services Director. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the District's food and nutrition services program, ensuring students receive safe, nutritious, and appealing meals while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

 

Position Overview

The Food Service Director will provide leadership and supervision for all District food service operations, including menu planning, budgeting, purchasing, inventory management, USDA Child Nutrition Program administration, staff supervision, food safety compliance, and financial management.

 

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible food service management experience, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programs, food safety regulations, budgeting, purchasing, inventory control, and personnel management.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing operational budgets.

Preferred qualifications include Registered Dietitian credentials, School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) certification, and experience with PEARS, PrimeroEdge, and USDA Commodity Programs.

 

Responsibilities Include

  • Directing all district-wide food service operations.
  • Developing nutritious and compliant menus.
  • Managing the Food Service budget and financial reporting.
  • Supervising and evaluating food service personnel.
  • Administering USDA Child Nutrition Programs.
  • Managing purchasing, inventory, and vendor relationships.
  • Ensuring compliance with all health, sanitation, and nutrition regulations.
  • Preparing reports for district administration, state agencies, and the Board of School Directors.
