This information is based upon the most recent CDC Guidelines for COVID-19, updated January 7, 2022.
COVID-19 Exposure: Contact with infectious agents (bacteria or viruses) in a manner that promotes transmission and increases the likelihood of disease.
COVID-19 Symptoms: a physical or mental feature that is regarded as indicating a condition of the disease. Examples are not limited to but may include: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste and/or smell, sore throat, runny nose/congestion, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea. This is not an all-inclusive list.
Asymptomatic: People who are infected or exposed and are not exhibiting symptoms.
Close Contact: DOH recommends using 15 consecutive minutes of exposure at a distance of 6 feet or less as an operational definition for close contact.
Pfizer or Moderna - An individual that is within two weeks from their second mRNA dose or has received a booster within the past six months.
Johnson & Johnson - An individual that is within 2 months of their initial Johnson & Johnson vaccine or has received a booster.
If you test positive for COVID-19 (regardless of vaccination status) the following is REQUIRED:
- People with COVID-19 should quarantine for 5 days. If they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolved or improving, they may return to school or work wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter for an additional 5 days. If a student or staff member cannot or chooses not to wear a mask for the remaining 5 days, they must continue to quarantine away from the school setting.
Based upon our current rise in positive cases within our students and staff, the district is also RECOMMENDING the following FOR INDIVIDUALS EXPOSED TO COVID-19 (close contacts of a positive case) in order to keep our school community as safe as possible:
- wear a mask for 10 days following the last exposure.
- take an at-home test or visit a testing site at least 5 days after the last close contact with someone with COVID-19. If that test is positive, they should follow the required guidance above.
