Welcome to Pre-K Counts


Designed for pre-kindergarten (four years of age by September 1st) children.

  • Where children learn by doing.
  • Developed to include parents as partners in the learning process.
  • Held at all three Elementary Buildings
  • Funded by PA PreK Counts
  • Aligned to the PA Standards

The Marion Center Area School District is planning to continue the PreK program during the 2012 - 2013 school term. This pre kindergarten program focuses on the development of the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual skills of young children.


Each child will develop:

  1. Self-esteem, curiosity, and independence.
  2. An interest in learning.
  3. Large and small muscle coordination.
  4. Appropriate behavior patterns.
  5. Meaningful spoken and written language.
  6. Social skills, including cooperation and self-motivation.
  7. An interest in the world around him/her.
  8. Problem solving and thinking skills.
  9. Phonological awareness.
  10. Pre-reading and math skills.

School hours for teachers are 8:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Student hours are 9:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
